Russell County Highway Department is now accepting applications for a full-time sign & traffic control operator. This position is subject to other related work throughout Russell County, as needed, using various types of light and heavy equipment. Applicants are required to have a Class A CDL w/airbrakes for the Operator positions.
Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing is required.

Correctional Officer/Jailer
The Russell County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a Correctional Officer/Jailer. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, must be a United States Citizen, have no felony convictions (including any felony that has been expunged), no serious misdemeanors and must have a high school diploma or a GED. As a condition of employment, you must be able to pass a drug test prior to employment and a background investigation. As a Correctional Officer, your duties will include and are not limited to; taking care of inmate processing, dealing with inmates and their needs such as meals, medication, and transporting inmates to court or other facilities. Russell County is an E.O.E.

Deputy Sheriff
Russell County Sheriff's Office is now taking applications for a Deputy Sheriff. A Deputy Sheriff performs general law enforcement duties in the protection of life and property within Russell County. The job shall require work involving patrolling rural county areas, enforcing all federal, state and local laws and ordinances. Deputies will be required to investigate crime scenes and accidents. Work in this position involves an element of personal danger and employees in this position must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgement in handling emergencies. Deputies shall be required to attend KLETC and receive state certification if employed. Deputies shall be required to serve civil process, transport prisoners, operate computers and any other assignments given by the Sheriff.
Applicants are required to be at least 21 years of age, a United States citizen, no felony convictions including any expunged convictions, a high school diploma or GED, have or be able to obtain a valid drivers license, be able to qualify for vehicle insurance, required to meet certain job related sight and hearing standards, no prior use of illegal drugs or narcotics including transportation or sale of such items.
You may also be required as a condition of employment to pass the following:
Physical agility testing, Background investigation, Psychological Examination, Polygraph Exam, Drug Screen and Medical Exam.
